Blissful Blooms: Spring Flowers Near Salem, Oregon

Phoenix RV is one of the best RV campgrounds Salem, Oregon has to offer, and the Willamette Valley has some of the most beautiful spring scenery the United States offers. (In our opinion, of course!) When spring comes, so do beautiful flowers in our area, from stunning wildflowers to acres of tulips. Here are a few of our favorite floral day trips from our Willamette Valley RV resort.
The Oregon Garden
Just a 20-minute jaunt from our Salem RV park, the expansive Oregon Garden has more than 80 acres of landscaped gardens. It’s a great place to see a variety of spring flowers like tulips, daffodils, and cherry blossoms, then columbine, lilies, iris, and lilies, then fuchsia and hydrangea. Any time of year is a great time to visit as different planting beds grow and bloom.
Silver Falls State Park
Silver Falls is known for its many stunning waterfalls, but in the spring the park is also filled with native wildflowers like monkeyflower, trillium, common camas, and bleeding heart.
Bush’s Pasture Park
This historic park in Salem is a great place to see colorful flowers like azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring. Beautiful garden beds are full of color, as well as fields of camas blooming in April.
Adelman Peony Gardens
Over 200 varieties of peonies steal the show at this garden located in Brooks, just a short drive from our Willamette Valley RV resort. You can buy a few of your own or just bring a picnic and enjoy the glory for an afternoon. Peak bloom is normally around Memorial Day.
Schreiner’s Iris Gardens
Shreiner’s in Keizer has been “Growing the finest Iris since 1925.” They now display over 500 varieties of irises in their gardens. Blink and you’ll miss it: buy tickets online in April for blooms in May. Grab some cut flowers while you’re there to make your RV feel a little more cheerful.
Bauman’s Farm and Garden
All these flowers making you want to put down some roots of your own? This family-owned farm is located in Gervais, just a short drive from Salem. It has a wide variety of spring bulbs like tulips and daffodils, as well as hanging baskets for sale. Kids will love the farm playground and bakery, and grownups will love the Bauman Cidery.
Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm
We saved the most popular for last. This tulip farm located in Woodburn, just a short drive from the Salem RV park, is a popular destination for visitors looking to see rows (and rows, and rows…) of colorful tulips in the spring. You can expect tulips around early April, though the weather changes things every year. Check the “bloom status” on the website, and get your tickets online ahead of time. This is a happening, and THE place to get Instagram material.
Best RV Parks Oregon
At Phoenix RV, we think that the Willamette Valley is one of the most beautiful and interesting places to stop over any time of year, but spring is particularly stunning. As April rolls into May, you’ll see fewer days of rain, and highs in the low 60s.
Whether you stay at our Willamette Valley RV resort for a day, a week, or a month, you’ll have a trip to remember.
