Enjoy The Holiday Season in Oregon

Camping near Salem, Oregon is just one option you have when it comes to enjoying all of the sights, sounds and activities available to those of us in the Pacific Northwest this holiday season. Just as the weather turns colder and the rain seems to never stop, the seasonal holiday celebrations heat up to help us forget about the gloom of winter.
No matter the type of holiday festival you enjoy, Oregon has something certain to entertain the entire family. With that in mind, here are a few events to mark on your December calendar.
Yachats Winter Celebration: November 24 – January 1
Various places in Yachats, Oregon
December offers a variety of festive activities for those living or visiting the small costal village of Yachats. For wine lovers, each Saturday offers a wine tasting between the hours of noon to 5pm at The Wine Place. On Thursday, December 1st, put on your dancing shoes and get footloose and fancy free at the Yachats Big Band Dance. Featuring a 17-piece band, the dance is held at Yachats Commons and is open to all ages. Families are invited to stick around for the weekend to attend the Breakfast with Santa that includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and a chance to have the little one’s picture taken with the big guy himself.
Later events in the month include the Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble Winter Holiday Concert, the 21st Annual Victorian Christmas Open House, the Central Coast Choral Wishes and Candles and Holiday Concert and much more. Christmas in the Garden: Thursday – Sunday from November 25 – January 1, 5pm to 9pm
The Oregon Garden, Silverton Oregon – 879 W Main St. Admission $5-$10
An award-winning event, Christmas in the Garden features ice skating, a traditional German Christmas market and stunning light display in the lovely Rediscovery Forest. As you arrive at the Garden, you’ll board the magical Holiday Express and be transported to the wonderfully decorated Rediscovery Forest where the whole family can participant in a variety of activities that include shopping at artisanal vendor booths, ice skating, caroling, listening to festive holiday tunes and sipping on warm beverages while you wander gazing at the over 500,000 Christmas lights as you tour through the Candyland, the North Pole and Candy Cane Tunnel attractions.
West Linn Holiday Parade: December 10, 10am to Noon
Between 10th St. & Willamette Falls Drive, West Linn, OR
This year’s theme for the annual holiday parade in historic Willamette is “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.” Attendees are invited to visit with Santa immediately following the parade at the Willamette Fire Station before he heads back to the North Pole. A can food drive will also be held during the parade, and new, unwrapped toys will be gratefully accepted on behalf of the West Linn Food Pantry.
Enlightened Theatrics Presents: Plaid Tidings: Various dates and showtimes
Salem’s Historic Grand Theatre – 191 High St. NE Salem, OR
Filled with familiar Christmas tunes and new twists on old favorites, Plaid Tidings offers a humorous take on many of the holiday season’s most iconic aspects. This holiday treat is certain to lift your spirits and fill you with warm feelings of nostalgia. If you enjoy classic holiday tunes sung in perfect harmony, then this is one show you’ll certainly not want to miss.
